Taking Steps to Manage Chronic Pain

"Most of us will inevitably experience pain in our lives. My one wish, is that nobody would suffer from the agony of chronic pain. Indeed, many of us will in our lifetime, and still many of us will feel lost and alone in a reality that doesn’t understand this unexplainable pain.
Although there are many types of chronic pain, it is true with any kind of chronic pain, that a multidisciplinary approach is necessary. A combination of patient education, medications, rehabilitation, and psychosocial counseling is in general the best recipe .
Here are three simple tips for managing chronic pain. Each step is important in managing the pain, through every aspect of our lives.
The First process is to respect the pain. Because chronic pain requires a lot of office visits, it is important to find a physician who understands you, your pain, and your condition. Patients often find themselves without adequate care, or having their symptoms dusmissed by their doctors. The patient and the doctor must be willing to educate themselves as much as possible. Little is known about what causes chronic pain, because it often occurs in the absence of ongoing illness or disease. .."

Here is where I'm STUCK!!! I'm in denial!! And I HATE asking for help...although my husband and kids are amazing and don't mind.

Anyone else?

Default Im with you !

Many of us were such busy people prior to being injured. It is so difficult to readjust your levels of activity to satisfy your brains need to be busy! Overdoing it is something I am known for and wish I could help. It takes so much effort to start some jobs I just try to work through till the end and pay big time for it...

So yeah, I can relate big time!

You'd think after almost 9 years that I'd be better at accepting my limitations...but NO!!! I still live in constant frustration that I cannot do what I want/need to do. And even MORE frustration that someone in my field cannot overcome this denial!!!

Anyhow.....I'm going to breathe and get a shower now and try to live in reality. What's that prayer??? Ok...here it is thanks to google:

God, grant us the...
Serenity to accept things we cannot change,
Courage to change the things we can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference
Patience for the things that take time
Appreciation for all that we have, and
Tolerance for those with different struggles
Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the
Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the
Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.
